The DMK Party has said it does not want a freeze on the upcoming local elections in the state.

The party's leader MK Stalin told reporters in Chennai that the DMK only wanted regularisation of the polls.

He said it had no plans to approach the court to stop the elections. He hinted that it was probably the wish of some political groups.

The state government recently changed the election procedure and said mayors and local body leaders will be decided through indirect polls.

Official announcement of the polls are expected soon.
