CHENNAI: Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday said that mini sports stadiums would be set up in 35 Assembly constituencies represented by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 32 and three, respectively, out of the 82 facilities.

Making a statement in the Assembly, he referred to a question raised on Thursday by AIADMK MLA Agri SS Krishnamoorthy on the establishment of mini stadiums. The Deputy Chief Minister outlined the government’s initiative to develop sports infrastructure across the State.
He said the Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone for 82 mini stadiums, of which eight had already been inaugurated. Assuring the House, he said all stadiums currently under construction would be inaugurated by February.
“The renovation work has been completed in 35 stadiums, and works in 24 more stadiums will be completed soon,” Udhayanidhi Stalin said.
Providing a party-wise breakup, he said 32 mini stadiums had been sanctioned in constituencies represented by the AIADMK, while three stadiums were allotted to constituencies represented by the BJP.
