Nine cattle die after two electric poles fall in Kancheepuram district

At noon while the cattle were on the field two overhead cables snapped and fell on the cattle, killing nine cattle on the spot, police said.

CHENNAI: Nine cattle were electrocuted on Saturday after overhead electric cables snapped and fell on them in Uthiramerur while grazing.

Tragedy struck the villagers of Salavakkam near Uthiramerur after the cattle left for grazing on the fields on Saturday morning died of electric shock.

At noon while the cattle were on the field two overhead cables snapped and fell on the cattle, killing nine cattle on the spot, police said.

On information, the Salavakkam police and EB officials arrived at the spot, disconnected the power supply, retrieved the carcass and sent them for autopsy.

The Salavakkam police have registered a case.
