Tourist and freight vehicles entering The Nilgiris were charged with a revised ‘Green Tax’ by the district administration on Tuesday. The charges, which remained uniform at Rs 30, have been revised for all outstation vehicles. As per the revised fee, the buses and lorries were levied Rs 100, while maxi cabs, taxis and light motor vehicles were charged Rs 70. And cars were charged Rs 30 and Rs 10 for motor cyclists. Receipts were issued for the charges at the check posts. The district administration has decided to use the funds generated through increased ‘Green Tax’ to improve the district’s landscape
