Nilgiris, Conoor win award for 'Best Mountain and Hill Views'

This year’s edition focused on highlighting the changes in the travel industry that have become the new normal post the pandemic.

CHENNAI: The Nilgiris and Conoor in Tamil Nadu have bagged the silver award for the 'Best Mountain and Hill Views' destination in India at the Outlook Traveler Awards 2022.

A Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) release on Friday said that G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, presented the award to Chandra Mohan B, Principal Secretary to Government, Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments Department and Sandeep Nanduri, Director of Tourism and Managing Director, TTDC at the event held in New Delhi.

The Outlook Awards denote the benchmark of quality in the travel and tourism industry and aims to take a 360-degree view of the industry. Over the years, the awards have attracted stakeholders across various verticals.

This year’s edition focused on highlighting the changes in the travel industry that have become the new normal post the pandemic.

Awards were presented in 11 different categories, including the Best Eco-Tourism Destination, Best Wildlife Destination, Best Adventure Destination, and Best Festival Destination.

The awards were evaluated by a stellar Jury, consisting of prominent names from the Indian tourism industry. Neha Arora, Founder – of Planet Abled, Jaideep Bansal, CEO – Global Himalayan Expeditions, Vaibhav Kala, Founder – Aquaterra Adventures, Pushpesh Pant, Indian Food Critic were the members of the Jury.

The event also included engaging panel discussions focusing on start-ups in the tourism sector and destination marketing.
