Coimbatore: The Narcotics Intelligence Bureau-Crime Investigation Department (NIB-CID) sleuths on Saturday seized 100 kg of ganja in Salem.
Acting on a tip that a huge quantity of ganja is being smuggled from Madurai to Salem; a team led by Salem unit NIB-CID DSP C Murali was involved in a vehicle check on Salem Seelanaickenpatti to Kondalampatti road.
Police intercepted a speeding car at around 7 pm and a check revealed the presence of 100 kg of the contraband.
Police arrested Abinesh, 25 from Periyar Nagar in Madurai and a search is on for two others who were on the run.
The police have launched a special drive against ganja peddlers as part of Operation Ganja Vettai 2.0.
