CHENNAI: The soon-to-be launched Vande Bharat sleeper trains will not have the provision for reservation against cancellation (RAC) and wait-listed tickets. A detailed fare structure for the trains has been released by the Indian Railways.

Only confirmed tickets will be issued for the Vande Bharat sleeper trains. Besides wait-listed and RAC tickets, provision won’t be made for partially confirmed tickets either.

All available berths would be available from the date of advance reservation period (ARP). The Vande Bharat sleepers will only have ladies quota, persons with disabilities (PWD) quota, senior citizen quota and duty pass quota, a circular from the Railway Board said. Refund terms are applicable as in any other express trains.

The minimum chargeable distance is 400 km. The minimum fare, that is up to 400 km, for AC third class is Rs 960, AC second class is Rs 1,240 and for AC first class is Rs 1,520.

Currently, out of the 10 trains being jointly manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), two trains are rolled out from ICF. The first rake is allocated to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and will be operational soon in the Guwahati-Howrah route.

The second train is allocated to the Northern Railway. According to a circular issued recently by the Railway Board, the third train will be for Northeast Frontier Railway, fourth and fifth for the Northern Railway.

“The third rake will be rolled out soon and the fourth and fifth would take time. Of the 10 trains, the first six rakes are likely to be rolled out by March,” said a senior official with the ICF. After the completion of the jointly manufactured 10 coaches, ICF will make around 50 trains as its own, the official added.
