New train stoppages, extensions, timetable from January 1

CHENNAI: The Southern Railway has announced additional stoppages, timetable revisions and service extensions for several trains, with most changes coming into effect from January 1.

Thiruvananthapuram Central–Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express will get a one-minute temporary stoppage at Morappur in both directions.

Erode–Dr MGR Chennai Central Yercaud Superfast Express will depart Erode at 9.45 pm instead of 9 pm and reach Central station at 4.25 am instead of 3.40 am. The change will result in revised timings at intermediate stations including Salem, Morappur, Jolarpettai and Katpadi.

Tirupati–Rameswaram Tri-weekly Express will get an additional stoppage at Polur. Tambaram–Nagercoil Antyodaya Express will get a new stoppage at Sirkazhi on an experimental basis.

The SR has also extended the services of Narasapur–SMVT Bengaluru special trains till the end of January 2026.
