New revenue division with Arni as headquarters

The Tamil Nadu government will soon create a new revenue division with headquarters at Arni in Tiruvannamalai district to enable quicker reach to people and faster response to law and order issues, according to officials.

The new revenue division will include Arni, Polur, Kalasapakkam and Jamunamarathur taluks, the officials said and added that the new division would have 7.14 lakh population spread over 1,441 sqkm. 

Earlier, the Tiruvannamalai district had only Cheyyar and Tiruvannamalai revenue divisions covering 2,288 sqkm and 2,720 sqkm, respectively. Their population was 10.14 lakh and 14.50 lakh, respectively.

The new division was formed by including Polur and Kalasapakkam taluks from the Tiruvannamalai division and Arni from the Cheyyar revenue division. 

Jamunamarathur will become a new taluk. 

The new division has been allotted a total of 13 staff, including one Revenue Divisional Officer, three senior revenue inspectors, two junior revenue inspectors, driver, watchman, typist and record clerk, officials added.
