New interview dates for AIADMK aspirants out

CHENNAI: The primary opposition party, the AIADMK, has announced revised dates for conducting interviews with aspirants who submitted forms expressing interest in contesting the upcoming Assembly elections.

The party received applications in two phases, from December 15 to 23 in the first phase and from December 28 to 31 in the second phase. In total, 10,175 aspirants submitted their interest forms.

Earlier, the AIADMK had announced that interviews would be held from January 9 to 13. However, the schedule has now been revised. Interviews that were earlier slated for January 11 and 12 will now be conducted on January 12 and January 24.

According to the revised schedule, interviews for aspirants from Virudhunagar, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Tiruchy, Krishnagiri, Mayiladuthurai, and Dharmapuri districts will be held on January 12.

Interviews for aspirants from Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Tiruvannamalai, and Vellore districts will be conducted on January 24, the party said.

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has earlier stated that the selection of candidates would be based on recommendations from district secretaries and the aspirants’ performance and contribution within the party.
