CHENNAI: Chief Minister MK Stalin wound up his one-day trip to the national capital with an invitation to President Draupadi Murmu for the centenary celebration of former CM late M Karunanidhi and the inauguration of the multi-super speciality hospital at Guindy. Barring a chance encounter with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the VIP lounge in Delhi airport, the CM restricted his Delhi visit to a lone appointment with the President.

“Extremely grateful to Hon’ble President Tmt Draupadi Murmu for accepting my invitation to inaugurate Kalaignar Memorial Multi Super Speciality Hospital at Guindy on June 5 and to take part in the event at Nandanam, Chennai on the same day to commence the centenary celebrations of Dravidian Icon Thalaivar Kalaignar,” CM Stalin later tweeted.

The CM’s strict compliance with his 4-hour itinerary in Delhi has put to rest rumours spread by sympathizers of the opposition AIADMK and BJP on social media that the CM could meet a few influential members of the ruling BJP in the backdrop of the ongoing I-T raids in places connected to realty firm G-Square.

DMK circles confided that the CM was cautious in avoiding BJP leaders, which could leave tongues wagging back home in Chennai.
