MP Kathir Anand appears in court for Income tax seizure case

During the raids, officials seized Rs 11.48 crore in cash, which was found stored in boxes along with polling booth and voter list details.

VELLORE: A Vellore court on Monday adjourned the hearing in the 2019 Income Tax cash seizure case against DMK MP TM Kathir Anand, relating to raids conducted during the Lok Sabha election campaign, to February 3.

Judicial Magistrate Sathyakumar passed the order after Kathir Anand, along with Poonjolai Srinivasan and Damodaran, appeared in person before the court.

The case dates back to the 2019 Lok Sabha election, when Kathir Anand contested as the DMK candidate from the Vellore constituency.

During the campaign period, Income Tax department officials carried out searches at the residences of Minister Duraimurugan and his supporters.

During the raids, officials seized Rs 11.48 crore in cash, which was found stored in boxes along with polling booth and voter list details.

Following the seizure, Katpadi police registered cases under five sections against the accused.
