Mother’s plea to allow Nalini meet Murugan

The mother of Nalini, a life convict in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination, has moved the Madras High Court seeking to enable her daughter to meet her husband Murugan, also a life convict in the case, who is reportedly on a hunger fast for the past 16 days since he was not allowed to talk to his relatives over phone.

Nalini’s mother Padma had submitted that as per the prison rules, the couple were permitted to meet once in 15 days. But during the past three months, such a facility has not been provided. Murugan was disturbed over not being able to talk to his relatives, and following his father’s death, he was on fast since June 1, resulting in his health deteriorating. Based on this, she sought the court to enable Nalini to meet her husband and also pave the way for providing treatment to Murugan.
