Mostly dry weather in Tamil Nadu till February 1; light rain likely in south, coastal pockets

Light rain is likely at isolated places over south coastal Tamil Nadu on February 1, south Tamil Nadu on February 2, and coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on February 3, while interior Tamil Nadu is expected to remain dry throughout, according to the latest weather bulletin.

CHENNAI: Despite upper air cyclonic circulations persisting over the southeast Arabian Sea and the Comorin region, dry weather is likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal till February 5, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, said.

However, light rain is likely at isolated places over south coastal Tamil Nadu on February 1, south Tamil Nadu on February 2, and coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on February 3, while interior Tamil Nadu is expected to remain dry throughout, according to the latest weather bulletin.

Fog, mist forecast for select parts of Tamil Nadu

The RMC also said that between January 30 and February 1, shallow fog is likely at isolated places over Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet and Tiruvallur districts during early morning hours, while mist or haze may prevail at isolated places over Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirapalli and Karur districts.

Chennai weather forecast

For Chennai and its neighbourhood, partly cloudy skies with dry weather are likely on January 30 and 31, with maximum temperatures of 29-30 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures of 20-21 degrees Celsius, and no rainfall is expected.

Advisory for fishermen

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as squally winds of 45-55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are likely over the Comorin area and adjoining Gulf of Mannar on January 30 and 31.
