Month-long medical camps organised in 200 wards for civic body workers

The Greater Chennai Corporation inaugurated month-long medical camps for sanitary workers, conservancy workers, road workers and Amma Canteen workers, on Monday.

According to a Chennai Corporation press statement, the medical camps have been organised at all the 200 ward offices in the city. “The Chennai Corporation Commissioner G Prakash inaugurated the camp in Egmore. All the permanent workers, as well as temporary workers of the civic body, can check their health from 11 am to 2 pm every till February 28,” therelease said.


The civic body has estimated that around 29,000 workers would be benefited from the health camps. Blood test, urine test, ECG, eye test and other tests would be conducted in the camps apart from providing psychological counselling for the workers.


“Workers would be provided free medicines and if workers require further treatment, they would be sent to hospitals through respective zonal health officials,” the release added.
