Miscreants break open ATMs in Erode

While separate cases were filed, a coordinated investigation was underway.

COIMBATORE: Miscreants attempted to break open two ATM’s in quick succession in Erode on Monday.

Police said the miscreants had first entered a Karnataka Bank ATM located on EVN Road near Surampatti Four Road around 12.30 am.

They tried to smash the machine using stone slabs. Even though the ATM was heavily damaged, the suspects failed to access the cash.

Shortly then, they entered an SBI bank ATM near the Stony Bridge area. As the alarm rang, they ran away.

Surampatti police rushed to the spot. The forensic teams arrived and gathered fingerprints. While separate cases were filed, a coordinated investigation was underway.
