Ministers distribute welfare aid to minorities

CHENGALPATTU: Ministers distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 57.8 lakh to members of various minority associations in an effort to aid their entrepreneurial ventures in Chengalpattu on Wednesday.

On behalf of the Minority Welfare and Non-resident Tamil Welfare Department, a programme was held for 614 beneficiaries of the Chengalpattu Christian women’s aid society and Muslim women’s aid society.

Minister for Rural Industries, Cottage Industries, Small Industries TM Anbarasan and Minister for Minority Welfare Gingee KS Masthan participated in the programme and distributed Rs 57.80 lakh worth government welfare schemes. Minister Anbarasan said Rs 30 lakh will be provided to 314 women belonging to Muslim community to start a small business and Rs 18 lakh will be given to 139 destitute and poor Christian women.

Minister Masthan who also spoke at the function said that Chief Minister MK Stalin has given permission for the setting up of several new welfare associations in different districts to help the minority communities.
