Man returning from funeral killed by van

The victim, identified as Nagaraj, a resident of Selliyamman Street went to Bannur village at Vijayapuram in Andhra Pradesh to attend a relative’s funeral.

TIRUVALLUR: In a tragic accident, a 29-year-old man, who was returning from a relative’s funeral died when a van hit his motorcycle near Tiruvallur on Sunday. The victim, identified as Nagaraj, a resident of Selliyamman Street went to Bannur village at Vijayapuram in Andhra Pradesh to attend a relative’s funeral. On Sunday night, he was returning home in his motorcycle. When he was near Pattaraiperumandur bus stop a van that was heading towards Tiruttani hit him. “The victim suffered grievous injuries on his head and torso after he lost his balance and fell from the bike and died on the spot,” police said. The van driver abandoned his vehicle and fled. Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the missing van driver.
