Man killed over Marriage Proposal in Sivaganga

SIVAGANGA: A 30-year-old man was killed following a dispute over a marriage proposal at Chinna Thena Pudukottai village near Manamadurai on Sunday.

The deceased, Sivabalan, was the son of Vellaisamy. He had discontinued his law studies at Pondicherry University. Police said Sivabalan was in love with Dharani, the second daughter of Murugesan, 50, but she rejected his proposal after he discontinued his studies.

Sivabalan allegedly confronted Murugesan and his son Arun on a road in the village at noon and asked them to arrange his marriage with Dharani. But they refused, which resulted in an altercation, added the police

Sivabalan allegedly attacked Murugesan and Arun with a sickle. In retaliation, Murugesan and Arun allegedly inflicted serious head injuries on Sivabalan, who died at the spot.
