Man killed as minivan hits his bike, hunt on for van driver

Eyewitnesses informed the police that the minivan driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.

TIRUVALLUR: A 34-year-old man was killed on the road when a minivan hit his motorcycle in Tiruvallur on Thursday.

The police are on the lookout for the minivan driver who fled the scene.

The victim was identified as Sivapathy, a driver residing at Othavaadai Street in Narasingapuram. In the wee hours of Thursday, Sivapathy was on his way towards Oragadam in his motorcycle when a minivan coming in the opposite direction hit him.

“The victim sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot,” police said.

Eyewitnesses informed the police that the minivan driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.

Based on this, the Mappedu police have registered a case and are on the hunt for the driver. Sivapathy is survived by his wife and a one-year-old child.
