TIRUTTANI: Tension prevailed in Tiruttani Government Hospital when a father whose eight-year-old son suffered a snakebite, brought the two snakes that bit the child along with him on Saturday.

The victim, Murugan, son of contract labourer Mani and his wife Eliammal, a resident of Kollakuppam Village, was fast asleep at home on Friday night.

“When Mani woke up for a drink of water he was horrified to see two snakes, a common krait and a russell viper, lying on his son’s body. He also noticed that the snakes had bitten his child and he was unconscious,” police said.

The couple immediately rushed the child to the Tiruttani Government Hospital.

However, patients and staff at the government hospital were in for a shock when Mani brought the two snakes along with him inside the hospital premises.

The child is currently being treated in the pediatric unit of the hospital and his condition is stable, police said.
