CHENNAI: A tender has been floated for a Rs 8.40 crore project to supply drinking water from the Vaigai river to the upcoming Madurai AIIMS hospital.
Implemented by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board under an integrated drinking water supply scheme, the project aims to ensure a daily supply of 2.61 million litres of water to the AIIMS campus, said a Daily Thanthi report.
The works are expected to be completed within nine months.

Madurai AIIMS is coming up at K Pudhupatti village near Thirupparankundram on a 220-acre site at an estimated cost of Rs 2,021 crore.

Under the new water supply plan, drinking water will be drawn from the Vaigai river basin and conveyed to the hospital through large pipelines via the Karadikkal area.
