LS polls: Seizure in Tamil Nadu crosses ₹304 crore

CHENNAI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday informed that it has seized cash and other items worth Rs 304 crore so far.

According to the ECI's official data, Total cash worth Rs 143.0591 crore, total liquor worth Rs 5.0173 crore, total narcotics worth Rs 0.9343 crore, total precious metal worth Rs 121.6509 crore and freebies etc worth Rs 32.9791 crore was seized till Wednesday, April 10 morning.

Meanwhile, the ECI has deployed 190 Coys of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) across the state for the April 19 Lok Sabha polls.

For Chennai city 7 coys, for Avadi 3 coys, Tambaram 3 coys, Coimbatore 6 coys, Tiruppur 3, Salem 4, Trichy 4, Madurai 7 and Tirunelveli 3 coys were deployed for the Lok Sabha elections.
