CHENNAI: Former Tamil Nadu Minister K T Rajenthra Bhalaji on Tuesday said that if the AIADMK returns to power after the upcoming Assembly elections, husbands will be able to travel with their wives and youngsters with their lovers free of cost on government buses, as reported by daily Thanthi.

Addressing an MGR birth anniversary public meeting organised by the AIADMK Women’s Wing at Paavadi Thoppu in Sivakasi, Bhalaji said the party would defeat the DMK and form the government, with Edappadi K Palaniswami taking oath as Chief Minister on May 5.

He dismissed claims by rival parties about reviving MGR’s rule, asserting that only Edappadi Palaniswami can bring back MGR-style governance. He said the AIADMK had already announced the first set of five poll promises, which had left the DMK shaken.

He also claimed that no beneficiary had received the women’s monthly entitlement amount for the past 60 months under the DMK government.

He predicted that the AIADMK-led alliance would win 210 Assembly seats and said leaders of the AIADMK and BJP would share the same stage in Chennai on the 23rd in the presence of Prime Minister Modi.

Former board chairman John Mahendran, party spokespersons Sundarapandian and Subramanian, among others, also addressed the gathering. The event was organised by Virudhunagar West District AIADMK Women’s Wing secretary Subhashini.
