Lorry rams into power pole in Vandavasi, rations destroyed

TIRUVANNAMALAI: Ration items being carried to fair price shops in Vandavasi town were destroyed when the mini lorry ferrying them rammed a power pole in the town on Saturday.

Sources said that the mini lorry was carrying essential commodities including rice and sugar to various fair price shops in the town.

When the vehicle tried to negotiate a sharp curve the side of the vehicle hit an electricity police made of cement which broke into two and fell on the vehicle. As the wires scraped the load, it resulted in a fire which burnt some of the essential commodities.
