“When we spoke about NEET shattering poor people’s hopes of pursuing medical education, the Union government attributed motives to it. Now, the Madras High Court has seconded our view,” Stalin tweeted, referring to elaborate statistics revealing how NEET had fully favoured medical aspirants who had private coaching.
“The Central and state governments should traverse the path of social justice shown by the Madras High Court at least now,” Stalin posted on his official twitter handle.
Joining the issue with Stalin, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss sought to know if it were fair to continue with NEET even after it has been proven that NEET has commercialised medical education.
“The questions raised by Madras HC are fair and pertinent. It was raised by the PMK already. Is it fair to continue with NEET after it has been proven that NEET has commercialised medical education?” Ramadoss posted on his official Twitter handle.
“Coaching students for NEET and IIT entrances has become a Rs 50,000 crore business annually. Dreams of hapless poor students were being sacrificed for the benefit of money-spinning coaching centers. Hail commercialisation,” the PMK founder added.
Apart from the DMK-led opposition, even some parties in the ruling alliance, including the AIADMK have been campaigning for doing away with the NEET.
