Following the demise of Kanyakumari Congress MP and entrepreneur H Vasantha Kumar, the constituency is officially vacant.

The statement was released on Friday by the Lok Sabha secretariat.

Bypoll for the constituency could likely be announced soon.

Congress probable for the bypoll is Vasantha Kumar's son Vijay Vasanth and the BJP is likely to field Nainaar Nagendran who switched loyalty to the national party from AIADMK.
