Livelihood call centre for women launched

During the function, the Minister launched an exclusive telephone number, 155330, for the help centre.

CHENNAI: State rural industries minister KR Periakaruppan on Saturday launched a livelihood call centre for women in the city.

The centre established by Tamil Nadu women Development Corporation (TNWDC) would provide details related to livelihood programmes implemented by it and offer suggestions on preparing livelihood programmes and obtaining funds for implementing them.

The centre would also assist women in accessing information pertaining to project reports on agriculture and non-agro based industries, availing technical training and filing applications for various schemes implemented by the State government.

It would clarify on obtaining skill training for ensuring a steady income. Rural people, particularly members of self-help groups and youth could get suggestions for their livelihood development from the centre, a government statement government said.

During the function, the Minister launched an exclusive telephone number, 155330, for the help centre.

The number would be operational from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm on all working days.

Principal Secretary of Rural Development Department P Amutha, Joint Secretary Chandrasekar Sagamuri and TNWDC managing director S Divyadarshini were also present during the function.
