TIRUPATTUR: Natrampalli police are investigating the reasons why a youth from Kerala spent two days atop a hill leaving his vehicle at the foot hills, on Saturday.
Locals of Velakalnatham near Natrampalli spotted a car which was parked at the foothills on Friday and saw a youth – later identified as Mohammed Naseer (28) of Kerala – and asked him who he was and why had come there.
The youth reportedly stated that he had come for research in the hills and when locals informed him of leopard movement in the hills, the latter replied that he had a method to safeguard himself. This resulted in the rumour that the youth was armed with a gun.
Suspicious locals then informed Natramaplli police and revenue officials and also surrounded the car with plastic barrels to prevent it from being taken away.
The youth was then brought down by a local shepherd by which time police also arrived and started quizzing the youth. As they were not convinced by his answers, police seized the Chennai registered car which Naseer he had hired in Chennai two days ago. The youth was then taken to the police station for further questioning.
