Man surrenders at Vellore jail with severed heads of wife and lover

VELLORE: A man who allegedly murdered his wife and her alleged lover in Kallakurichi and then travelled by bus with their severed heads to surrender at Vellore Jail has been arrested, causing widespread shock on Thursday.

The incident began when the man, identified as Kolanji, became enraged after finding his wife with another man on the terrace of their house. In a fit of anger, he attacked them with a sickle he had hidden, killing both, identified as Lakshmi and Thangaraj. Police stated that he then decapitated the victims.

After the gruesome act, Kolanji decided to surrender. He wrapped the heads in cloth, placed them in a bag, and embarked on a bus journey from Kallakurichi to Tiruvannamalai, and then on to Vellore. Upon arrival, he took an auto-rickshaw directly to the jail premises, where he was immediately taken into custody by Pakayam police.

The Kallakurichi police have registered a case and are conducting a detailed investigation into the double murder and the subsequent events. The accused is currently in police custody.
