Even though the party is yet to confirm Kamal’s candidature in Ramanathapuram speculations are rife since the actor-politician was born in the district. “If the AIADMK gives the seat to sitting MP Anwar Raja, the minority votes may split. There is also anti-incumbency disposition against the BJP government among the Muslim population. If Kamal contests, he will be the only star candidate,” a party source said.
The sources hinted that Ramanathapuram has a strategic advantage owing to low poll expenses and hence parties like MNM could make easy inroads. However, sources said that Kamal would make the final call soon.
