CHENNAI: Following the request from various quarters, the State government has decided to enhance the scope of the Naan Mudhalvan’s UPSC’s Mains scholarship to include candidates appearing for the Indian Forest Service (IFS).
Naan Mudhalvan – Competitive Exams Vertical was launched in March 2023 with a focus on empowering TN youth to excel in competitive exams conducted by the Union Government recruitment agencies.
Accordingly, at present, the scheme provides various scholarships to candidates, who will be appearing in the preliminary exam, main exam and personality test. Coaching is also given to all the candidates at various places including in Chennai.
Additionally, Naan Mudhalvan scheme also provides residential training for Staff Selection Commission, Railways and Banking exams at Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai region.
A senior official said, “The performance of candidates from TN in various Union Government recruitment examinations through Naan Mudhalvan scheme has witnessed a remarkable improvement.
The targeted scholarships, structured coaching programmes, and enhanced academic infrastructure have enabled a significantly higher number of aspirants to clear the preliminary, mains, and personality test stages.”
In continuation of these efforts, and to extend similar support to aspirants of other All India Services, it has been decided to broaden the scope of the Naan Mudhalvan scheme to include candidates appearing for the UPSC's IFS", he said adding "accordingly, all candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu and who have cleared the UPSC IFS preliminary examination 2025 will be eligible to receive this lump-sum financial assistance of Rs 25,000 will be granted".
The official pointed out that candidates who have received the scholarship for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2025, are also eligible for IFS mains scholarship.
