CHENNAI: Hitting out at TVK chief Vijay for terming DMK an evil force, IUML national president KM Kader Mohideen asserted that if the Dravidian major is termed evil, none in the nation's political stream can claim purity.
He strongly rejected using the description against the State's ruling party, saying that the Stalin-led party has a long and irrefutable record of social, political, educational and economic development in Tamil Nadu. A party which stands for social justice and equality can't be termed evil, he added.
Referring to the Tiruparankundram deepathoon issue, Kader Mohideen said local Hindus had not raised any objections and that Hindus and Muslims in the area had lived like brothers for a long time. “It is communal forces that are attempting to disturb this brotherhood,” he alleged.
Meanwhile, he raised concerns about the functioning of the Waqf Board in Tamil Nadu under the alliance party DMK government's rule, noting that, while it has been divided into 10 divisions with officials appointed to each, every district should have a dedicated officer to monitor Waqf-related issues.
Permissions for mosque construction were pending in several districts, he said, and urged the State government and district Collectors to ensure approvals are granted within three months.
