CHENNAI: Seeking to downplay the meeting between poll strategist Prashant Kishore and TVK leader actor Vijay as a 'business' meet, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Selvaperunthagai wondered how would the strategies of Prashant Kishore, who failed in his state (Bihar), work out for Vijay in Tamil Nadu?

Engaging queries related to the meeting during a media interaction at party headquarters Sathyamurthy Bhavan, Selvaperunthagai said, "It is a business. He (PK) is a commercial person. Tomorrow, if you launch a party and say, you are willing to pay Rs 100 crore, or if you say you are unable to pay, but a sponsor is willing to pay, he will come forward. But, people do not cast their vote based on the strategies Prashant Kishore devised, but welfare schemes, goodwill and acceptability."

Asked if the DMK did not win because of PK in the 2021 Assembly polls, Selvaperunthagai said, "That is a part. They can only do IT work. They cannot influence the people. Only the people decide the polls. Why didn't he (PK) win in Bihar? Why did he lose the seats he contested in Bihar? His strategy did not work out for him in his own state. How will it work out for Vijay?"

Egged by reporters about the meeting, the TNCC chief sarcastically said, "It is his (Vijay) wish. There are many people ready to contribute or spend. Many people have recently joined him (Vijay)." On whether he meant a resourceful Aadhav Arjuna joining the TVK recently, a reticent Selvaperunthagai said, "I am not naming anyone. Why are you dropping names?"
