CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Monday dismissed a suit filed as withdrawn for restraining former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami from conducting a General Council meeting of AIADMK on June 23.

Justice CV Karthikeyan passed the orders on dismissing the civil suit filed by one Thanikachalam, a panchayat secretary to AIADMK. The petitioner filed this suit before June 23 for a direction to stall the GC meeting scheduled on June 23 and to bar the respondents from amending the party bye-laws.

When the matter was taken by the judge on Monday, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the GC meeting was held on June 23 and the meeting was validated by the court. He further noted that since his client's suit turned infructuous now, he expressed that Thanikachalam will withdraw his plea.

Recording the submissions, the judge granted liberty to withdraw the petition and dismissed the same.
