The people from Kamala Harris's ancestral village, Thulasendrapuram, Tiruvarur celebrated Biden and Harris' victory in the US elections held amid COVID19 pandemic with a rangoli. The message said, ‘Congratulations Kamala Harris, pride of our village,’. It also added 'Vanakkam America'.

They also installed posters, distributed sweets and burst crackers to celebrate the win.

The Vice President-elect's grandfather was born in Thulasendrapuram, a village near Chennai. Earlier, the locals offered prayers prior to the election for her victory.

Kamala Harris became the first black woman, first immigrants' child to become Vice President. She is the daughter of an Indian mom, Shyamala Gopalan and an African-American father. Her late mother, who raised her, moved from Chennai to US when she was 19 years in a hope to find cure for cancer. She remembered her mother and thanked her during her speech after winning the election.

The Election result was announced yesterday, despite protests conducted by the Trump supporters and Donald Trump's stubborn feat to not concede defeat.

Kamala Harris' first election win came in 2003 when she became the San Francisco's district attorney. Later, became the California's attorney general in 2010. She was elected to the US Senate in 2016.
