Through regular supplies, he managed to get regular clients. During the lockdown also, he promised to supply venison. After getting a tip off, forest officials started monitoring his movements. On Sunday, Manikandan asked his clients to come to a spot in Ambur town and get the venison.

Meanwhile, forest officials reached the spot and nabbed him. Investigations revealed that Manikandan had killed a pair of wild cats and after skinning them had packed the flesh in bags to be sold as venison.
