Govt colleges to replace 41 university-affiliated colleges in TN

Orders have been issued to create teaching and non-teaching positions in the colleges that are undergoing conversion as well as to provide financial support for the expenses.

CHENNAI: At a cost of Rs 152 crore, it has been declared that 41 university-affiliated colleges in Tamil Nadu will be transformed into government arts and science colleges.

Accordingly, 41 of the university's member colleges have been transformed into government arts and science colleges.

Orders have been issued to create teaching and non-teaching positions in the colleges that are undergoing conversion as well as to provide financial support for the expenses. The universities will take back any additional non-teaching positions that they create.

Additionally, respective institutions are urged to take disciplinary action against those executives if teaching and non-teaching positions are created without the Finance Committee's consent.
