Godavari-Cauvery: CMs of Andhra, TN Telangana to meet

A meeting of Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will soon be held to discuss about Godavari-Cauvery river inter-linking project.

Announcing this after laying the foundation stone for the Sarbanga lift irrigation project in Salem, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said the project would be implemented at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore and his AP counterpart Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has given his consent for themeeting.


Stating that Tamil Nadu Ministers S P Velumani and D Jayakumar on Wednesday met Reddy and handed over his letter in this regard, he said a similar request has been made to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekara Rao for the meeting and he has promised to soon allot a suitable time for it. “The Chief Ministers of these three states will deliberate on implementing the river linking project and submit a report to the Central government,” Palaniswami said. He said the water from the inter-linking project would be used for irrigation by the farmers.
