Four history-sheeters arrested with deadly weapons in Madurai

Four history-sheeters were arrested in Madurai on Friday night and deadly weapons including machete, knife and chili powder have been seized from them.

The Crime Prevention team attached to Sellur police spotted the quartet at Thathaneri. After taking a look at the police, the criminals tried to evade, however they were nabbed. The accused have been identified as R. Meenmul alias Muthupandi (20) of Bharathi Nagar, Thathaneri, S. Selvam (24) and M. Maharajan alias Muttakan (21) of the same locality and T. Stalin alias Loadman Stalin (40) of Aruldospuram. While Muthupandi and Maharajan hid machete and knife on their back, Stalin concealed a knife on his hip, sources said. They indulged in a murder of one person in 2018 and used to extort money by waylaying persons. Sellur police have filed a case under Sections 25 (1-A) of The Arms Act, 1959 and 398 of IPC.
