CHENNAI: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay, who appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi for questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case, flew to the capital and back on a luxury private jet estimated to have cost around Rs 50 lakh, according to a Daily Thanthi report.

The rental cost of the aircraft ranges between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per hour, and with additional airport landing charges, Vijay’s round trip to Delhi reportedly came to about Rs 50 lakh.

He travelled on an Embraer Legacy 600 operated by Plane SPS. The jet, which seats around 13 passengers and can fly up to 5,500 km non-stop, took the actor to Delhi on the morning of January 12, and brought him back to Chennai on the afternoon of January 13.

Vijay was questioned at the CBI headquarters for nearly six hours in connection with the stampede incident that happened during a TVK rally in Karur in September 20205. The incident claimed 41 lives.
