Film has no political agenda, says actor Sivakarthikeyan

CHENNAI: The recently released Tamil film Parasakthi, which is set against the backdrop of Hindi imposition and the 1960s language agitation in Tamil Nadu, has triggered a political debate, with Congress leaders alleging that the movie portrays the party in a negative light.

The story of the movie, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan and directed by Sudha Kongara, has created a political buzz in Tamil Nadu following its release.

The film's storyline is based on a sensitive chapter in the state's political history. The controversy intensified on Wednesday after Parasakthi movie team participated in the Pongal celebrations led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.

Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore wrote on X, "The film is participating in the Sanghi team Pongal festival, while the film 'Janayagan' has been blocked."

Responding, actor Sivakarthikeyan clarified that the film was not made with any political agenda."
