CHENNAI: Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin listed the fight against communal forces as among the four key promises to the people of the State, on the occasion of Saint Poet Tiruvalluvar Day on Friday.
Extolling the contributions of the Saint poet, Stalin said on this day he was making four promises to the people of Tamil Nadu.
The key among them was to instil courage to fight for social injustices and stand against communal forces, taking a leaf from the couplets' ethos, which could be seen as a veiled reference to the BJP, which is trying to gain a foothold in the state.
Stalin said the other three promises are humanitarian schemes and programmes for the upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden; initiatives to further nurture youngsters' knowledge and skills; and concrete steps to boost industrial development and women empowerment, which would continue in the State.
"On this Tiruvalluvar Day, I assure you that these four promises made by me will continue in Tamil Nadu," Stalin said in a post on X.
