Farmer trampled to death in Erode

According to forest officials, Sidduraj of Kadaganalli village in Kadambur Forest Range, located in STR, went to his two-acre land to guard his maize crop from animals on Wednesday night

ERODE: A 35-year-old farmer was trampled to death by an elephant at Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in this district, forest officials said on Thursday.

According to forest officials, Sidduraj of Kadaganalli village in Kadambur Forest Range, located in STR, went to his two-acre land to guard his maize crop from animals on Wednesday night.

An elephant came out from the forest area, attacked him and trampled him to death on the spot, they said.

The nearby landowners informed the Kadambur Forest officials, who visited the spot.

Later, the body was taken to Sathyamangalam Government Hospital for an autopsy. The Kadambur police registered a case, and an investigation is on.
