TIRUPATTUR: Speaking at a district exporters outreach programme, organised jointly by the Council for Leather Exports and the DGFT (Directorate-General of Foreign Trade) at Ambur, he said items, mainly identified as having export potential in integrated Vellore district, included leather products, chemicals and readymade garments.
District export hubs would be created for such products and they would function under a district-level committee headed by the Collector, he said.
Citing figures, he said Tamil Nadu consistently provided up to 40 per cent of India’s leather exports which were mainly from the tannery belt of Ambur and Vaniyambadi.
