VELLORE: Former Anaicut constituency MLA M Kalaiasasu on Tuesday promised to fund the fees for the entire duration of the MBBS course of a student from a poor economic background who secured admission under the 7.5% reservation for students from government schools. The student Pravin Kumar’s father Elumalai is an agricultural worker in Sivanathapuram hamlet of Athiyur village panchayat in Anaicut constituency. MLA Kalaiarasu who met the student and his parents gave the budding doctor a lab coat, stethoscope and BP apparatus in addition to Rs 10,000. Kalaiarasu also stated that he would provide the fees for the entire duration of the medical course.
