SIVAKASI: Virudhunagar forest department officials seized elephant tusks allegedly hidden in a house at Gangakulam near Sivakasi following a tip-off.

Forest department officials said a search was conducted at the house, and the tusks were confiscated. A person was detained in connection with the case.

An official, when contacted, confirmed the seizure but said further details could not be disclosed as the investigation was still under way.

The official declined to reveal the identity of the detained person or the value of the seized tusks.
