Electricity Minister reviews preperations for NE monsoon

The Minister chaired a review meeting with Tangedco officials from all 44 distribution circles from the Tangedco headquarters.

CHENNAI: Electricity Minister Thangam Thennarasau on Tuesday reviewed the preparation for the ensuing North East Monsoon and preventive steps to be taken and also sought reasons from the officials for power cuts, which lasted for more than 30 minutes in each distribution circle.

An official release said that the Minister chaired a review meeting with Tangedco officials from all 44 distribution circles from the Tangedco headquarters.

The release said that the minister specifically sought details of power interruptions beyond 30 minutes and an explanation from officials.

He instructed the officials to identify places where frequent power cuts are reported and rectify the problem.

He also directed the distribution officials to rectify the grievances raised through the Minnagam number should be dealt with immediately.

The minister also instructed the officials to make arrangements to tackle the northeast monsoon and to keep all the equipment ready in case of an emergency.
