EC announces competitions for students, women

According to a press release by Collector Rahulnath, various programmes such as poster designing, singing and rangoli competitions focusing on the topic ‘My vote, My right’ would be organised for students and women.

CHENGALPATTU: In an effort to increase awareness among the public about the importance of voting, the Election Commission is planning to organise several competitions for school and college students and women self groups in Chengalpattu. According to a press release by Collector Rahulnath, various programmes such as poster designing, singing and rangoli competitions focusing on the topic ‘My vote, My right’ would be organised for students and women.

The poster designing competition will be held in separate categories for students of Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 who are under 18 years of age, college students between 18 to 21 years of age and differently abled school students under 18 years of age. Singing competitions will be organised for differently abled children and rangoli competitions would be held for women who are part of self-help groups.

The Election Commission has announced prize money of Rs 25,000 and certificates for the winners.

Detailed information regarding the competition such as venue, timings etc. have been informed to the concerned school and college administration and those requiring additional information can call on the toll free helpline number 1950 which would connect to the Election Commission Department at the Collectorate.
