DVAC seizes Rs.1.12 crore unaccounted cash in raids across TN

Rs.8.87 lakh was seized from the office of the assistant director, highways, Namakkal, while a raid at the office in Virudhanagar AD, rural development department resulted in the seizure of Rs.6.67 lakh.

CHENNAI: Sleuths from the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption on Friday carried out surprise searches at 27 government office premises across the state and seized a total unaccounted cash of Rs.1.12 crore, including Rs. 75 lakh seized from from Thiruvarur highway guest house and office of highway divisional engineer.

Raids were carried at the office of registration department, rural development department, revenue department, industry department, regional transport offices, highway department, forest department, commercial tax department, TNPCB, fire and rescue services, civil suppliescorporation, Urban habitation department, Urban and rural development, agricultural, TASMAC and Prohibition enforcement.

In Kallakurichi search in the office of assistant director, agricultural office, Villupuram ended with seizure ofRs.4.26 lakh cash, a press release from the DVAC said on Friday night.
